Tuesday Throwdown- Sweet Treats

Happy Tuesday before Valentines Day!!!!   It's now time for another new challenge over at Tuesday Throwdown. This week we have a fun theme for you: "Sweet Treats". Our sponsor for this challenge is Sunny Studio

And, inside:

I wish the shimmer showed up better- the Cascading hearts are embossed with a shimmery EP, and I inked up a scrap of the watercolor paper with Versamark, then embossed that and cut out more shimmery hearts in three sizes.
I used two stamp sets- Sweet Shoppe and Cascading Hearts.
I also used the Fishtail Banner Dies. I had purchased those a while back and was happy to finally put them to use! I also used a tiny hearts die that came with the Fishtail banner stamps.
Cardstock- SU pink, GP white and Strathmore Watercolor paper.
Ribbon- Offray grosgrain and white yarn
Embossing Powders- Stardust by Embossing Arts and Black from Sweet Stamps.
Copic Markers for coloring.

You have a week to join us with your Sweet Treats creation!  Stop by and see the inspiration from the DT!

Love Sketch

For the Jan Sketch challenge at AOSA (About Oriental Stamp Art Yahoo Group) was a bit challenging looking, but once I jumped right in, it was really fun!

I found some Oriental themed DP that I was hoarding by Basic Grey, and it coordinated pretty well!  The lantern is a sticker from the DP set too. The image is Unity and I colored with Copics. I added heart shaped sequins for some fun bling : )

Addicted to Stamps- Have a heart

Feb. COF- Deer

For the Feb Crafters of Faith (COF) post, Liz is our Hostess. Our challenge:

scripturePsalm 42:1 As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God.
challenge: Make a masculine card with deer or a scene from a lake or forest.

This gorgeous stamp is by Sweet n Sassy (retired) that I have never inked up. I thought of it immediately when the challenge was posted.
I added colors including SU Soft Sky and Marina Mist, and Distress Oxides. I used a mask for the deer, and sponged away!  The deer was colored with Copics. I added in a tiny bit of white paint pen, no shimmer added as this is a masculine card!

The Crafters of Faith is a group on SCS. We have a challenge hostess from the group give us a challenge each month based on a scripture. It is an OPEN group, so if you would like to join us, drop Kelly a line!  Check out the other COF cards on Splitcoast HERE!

Collage ATC's

In my ATC group, the Feb. theme is collage.  I had to do lots of looking on You Tube and Pintrest to get ideas for this theme.  I finally made a 'masterboard', and cut that into smaller ATC sized pieces.
I will show the process after the ATC's.

Butterfly stamp by Unity (Gracielle Designs).

                                                          Stamps by Unity Stamps.

                                                           Stamps by Unity

                                                                  Stamps by Unity

                                                              Stamps by Unity

Here is how I made the masterboard- most of the pieces are from magazines, some of the pieces are DP.

I glued down all of the pieces with Mat Gel Medium onto a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock.
Next, paint Gesso over the top of the dried Masterboard.

Wipe over the top with a baby wipe.

I stamped a Unity stamp in Black Stazon over the dried masterboard. I could have added more paint colors over the top, but wanted to leave the back white and let the colors from the magazine pages take center stage.

I used a Unity heart script stamp and embossed it in gold. I decided to stop here and embellish the backgrounds.

CYS-Three patterned Papers

It's the 28th of the month, and it is time to Create with Your Stash, aka CYS. This month Jeanette challenged us to use 3 different patterned Papers on our cards.

Since the goal is to use 'stash' items, I pulled out DP from my drawer of unknowns, and cut out butterflies with the retired (ages ago) SU Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die. I layered them over a die and embellished them with Basic Grey pearls. The cardstock is SU as well.
The Sentiment is Unity by Gina K. I also added a sympathy sentiment from the set on the inside. I am in need of a few more Sympathy cards. In the days of working in Intensive Care, I remember Jan was such a busy month for our unit!

The CYS group can be located here.  List mom Barb had the brilliant idea- lets use our stash items- with a monthly theme, I am sure finding no shortage of items to use in my creative space for this challenge...!!! Even those in the 'get rid of' pile....... HERE is a link to all of the January- 3 different DP cards'the group members posted on Splitcoast for this challenge.

The group says closed- but we ARE open to new members!

Panda Love

Gerda Steiner Progressive Challenge for Jan., Oh I could not resist the adorable Panda- so I bought him!  Inspired by a blogging friend- Donna, who makes the cutest cards with the images from this store!

I used a background that is made on watercolor paper with the leftover paint from my attempts at watercoloring. Why waste the paints- they are not cheap!  I love the pinks and purples- and was able to match the mauve/pink cardstock-that my sistaer gave me from Tuesday Morning.  I used a Mod Stitched rectangle die for the image, copics to color and a Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen to add shimmer.

I have a few friends in the About Oriental Stamping Yahoo group that may get a card with this adorable Panda if I have time to whip up a few more cards : )

We visited San Diego over New Years, and saw this adorable Panda at the SD Zoo : )

ATC's- "Trees"

Our Jan ATC theme was trees.  I used a variety of backgrounds for my trees- having so much 'technique' fun!

On the Lt, the ATC is made using a chipboard tree from Sweet Stamps- Piccalo Accents. I covered it with enamel EP and it has flecks of gold in it. I placed it on a background and covered the edges with Stickles.

On the Rt is my 1-4-1 "drop card".  I used a Distress Ocide BG, added a portion of a die cut of a city scape, colored the house and trees. I added 'snow' on the trees using my white paint pen, then felt like it needed something, so added dots of snow with the paint pen and a full moon (It is the Blue Moon month after all).

On the Lt- the background is a gelly plate Background, used a tree die cut, I added dots of snow and snow on the tree with a white paint pen. I added Washi tape at the bottom.  I added a star at the top from retired SU sequins.

The Rt ATC is my favorite- I added a background of a magazine page wrinkled up, laid flat and covered with Gesso. I added the tree die cut, added pink heart sequins. I added punched hearts at the base from some retired SU DSP.

These tree dies are unbranded. They are from a set of three. The one on the left is the largest one, I added it to a background using metallic paints. I added small ripped pieces of Washi and gold Stickles on top.
The Rt side ATC has stickles on top. I used a Unity stamp (the honetcomb) and a strip of Washi on the bottom.

The last two ATC's are using a Gelli plate background. I used the same tree die again, I just added Washi and heart sequins from the SU sequins I used the star from.

I used a variety of backgrounds and used the small deer from a Gina K designs set- imported in to the scan and cut and cut it out from brown cardstock. I used glue distress, the magazing pape crinkled and gesso'ed, Glue resist x's 2 and a embossed and sanded (coordinations cardstock) technique.

Sympathy

A card for a friend who had a loss in her family.

I stamped this Unity image (Dec. 17 KOTM) on Watercolor paper (Strathmore) using a stamping platform. I colored with Zig pens and Artesa waterbrush pens, plus a bit of Wink of Stella.
Cardstock and DSP are SU as are the pearls.  The butterfly die is Cheery Lynn.

I googled the Arteza brushes and watched alot of You Tube video's before buying them. I was able to color direct to paper, blend a bit, remove ink that was too saturated and lift color that blended on the edges and also used ink scribbled on my stamp block mixed with water for the background.  I also did some tip to tip blending for middle tones of the colors.  So far, I am pleased with the results of the markers : )

Here is my swatching- Lt on watercolor paper and Rt Neenah cardstock.

These pens do not have numbers on them, so I will have to figure that out so I can easily color with them if they get out of this order.....

This is my Zig pen collection.  You can buy these individually, and they have numbers on them.  I will be filling in my collection with the Zigs in the future.

My first time using a new bottle of Nuvo drops:

So, when the Nuvo drops first start flowing, do not squeeze too hard : ) LOL
