CYS Dec- New Years-no alcohol

For our December Challenge Your Stash (CYS), Maggie challenged us to make a New Year card using no alcohol, as not everyone partakes.

I made a card and gift jar set for the ESSE adult day care my mom attends for their New Years party. The sweet Country Snowman is from Sweet n Sassy Stamps (digi), and the sentiment is from Verve. I used a TH embossing folder, some silver sparkly wrapping paper and Cherry Cobbler cardstock. The sentiment is from Verve.

Here is the jar that holds the hot chocolate mixture:

The project goals for the clients is to make assemble as easy as possible, so I made a kit and have everything ready to roll.  The jar will be filled with hot chocolate and little marshmallows. Mom helped me out by coloring this sweet Country snowman.  I used the Scan n Cut to quickly cut out 20 large and 20 small snowmen.

And there you have it!  Thanks for a great challenge Maggie!

The CYS group can be located here.  List mom Barb had the brilliant idea- lets use our stash items- with a monthly theme, I am sure finding no shortage of items to use in my creative space for this challenge...!!! Even those in the 'get rid of' pile....... HERE is a link to all of the December 'New Years-no alcohol' the group members posted for this challenge.

Cup of Joy

A quick and CAS Christmas card. I had this image sitting on my desk- did not get it done for the coffee lovers blog hop, but wanted to finish it anyway.

I revised the layout (alot), and decided to use an image from the Unity kit of the month- the coffee background in a pale cream color. The coffee cup and sentiment are from a Unity set. A little Washi and some glitter glue- plus a touch of Washi- there you go.

I hope your Christmas/Holiday plans are going well!

Christmas Crazy Freebie

This is day 7 and the last Day of Christmas Crazy over at Bugaboo.  The Freebie Friday image is the picture inspiration for today's challenge.

I used some DP that has been in my stash for ages. I am not sure where it is from- it is not marked. I colored the freebie image with Copics and highlighted it with Wink of Stella.

A fun week of challenges- I enjoy doing this each year when I get the time!

Day 6 of Christmas Crazy is a Color challenge.

I decided to use Washi from my stash and the Bugaboo Christmas Moose Ornament image.  I printed the image and cut it out with a border on the Scan n Cut. I colored with Copics, I added the pinks and the blues in on the ornaments. The sentiment is by Northwoods Rubber Stamps.  If I make anymore of these, I will make a sentiment Merry Christmoose : )

Christmas Teddy

The 2nd Bugaboo challenge for the Christmas Crazy challenge this week is a Sketch challenge.

I love this sweet image. I colored the image with Copics and added liquid applique to the hat and ball at end of hat. I sprinkled glitter over the liquid applique while it was wet- it is hard to see in the picture. The DP is Basic Grey from eons ago. The cardstock is SU Cherry Cobbler I used a corner rounder, and scored the cardstock in the opposite direction of the stripes in the DP. The sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo.

Merry and Bright

Over at Bugaboo, there is a week long Christmas card challenge, and I love their images so had to join in. Plus, it won't hurt to have a few more cards made!

The first challenge theme is Merry and Bright. I had this Christmas DP out from the Gift Card I made last week, so used it again. The image is the Angel Girl Sitter, I cut the image out with the Scan N Cut with a .04 border. I colored with Copics. The hat and ball have puffy 'liquid applique' applied and died. The sequins match the pink dots in the border DP, and are from the Target $1.00 spot.  The sentiment is SU.

CYS- Gift Holder

For our monthly Challenge Your Stash aka CYS post, Vicki challenged us to make a gift holder.

I bought a few fun templates from the Silhouette store, then came across THIS fun idea from Jennifer McGuire's Blog. It is different from anything I have seen or tried, so had to give it a go!
I used a digi stamp from Sweet n Sassy-Cocoa : )

How fun is that.....!   It is easy and quick to put together.  Find OLD as dirt DP...yep!  Use it on the bottom of the card.
Next, die cut an opening in the top of the card- I do not have the dies used in the above tutorial, so used one I did have.....

Before you cut, make sure your die is where you want it. Place the edge of the cutting plate where you want the cut to end.....  there you go!

Here is the fun peek a boo window after the die cut.  I scored the line at the base of the die cut.

Add some double sided tape to the back of the cardstock- make sure gift card has tape fairly close to keep it from flopping all over : )

Although these pictures are mine, the idea came from the tutorial posted above : )

The CYS group can be located here.  List mom Barb had the brilliant idea- lets use our stash items- with a monthly theme, I am sure finding no shortage of items to use in my creative space for this challenge...!!! Even those in the 'get rid of' pile....... HERE is a link to all of the November gift Holders the group members posted for this challenge.

Christmas Gift Tag

I had a bit of time in the craft room- finally!  I decided to check the Catch the Bug iapiration for the day, and used the  SCS technique challenge- watercolor impression to create!

I did not follow the tutorial on SCS exactly.... I used regular cardstock instead of watercolor paper.  I applied Distress ink and then spritzed a stencil, placed it wet side down onto the cardstock.  It makes a pattern in the ink as it lifts some of the color.

I had to use this fun peeking reindeer from Bugaboo- I just love the last release- so many darling images!!!

The to/From stamp is from Inkadinkado.

I had so much fun today- I bought a Scan and Cut and it has been cutting out all of my images today- I absolutely LOVE it!!!

Crayon Resist

I had a moment to create this week, and took the opportunity o make a swap for the AOSA (About Oriental Art) Yahoo group- theme- dragonflies. This is a type of crayon resist.

And, I made a full sized card using the same technique:

The SCS had a Try a New Technique challenge on Monday.  I have done a variation of this technique, but this one was much easier.....  I took white cardstock, placed it on an embossing folder with the impression part of the folder up. I ran a crayon over that and then rubbed/brayered on color.
You get a better impression on the card vs the ATC of what the embossing folder design is.
The dragonflu is by Michael Strong, the sentiment MFP.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

COF

November: Hostess ~ Jody

I originally chose November because I wanted to celebrate Gratitude or Thanksgiving, as I was searching through the scriptures for verses for those words, I came across the following scripture:
"Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving" - Psalms 147:7

…this verse spoke to me, as music and giving thanks to the Lord through song has always been an important part of my worship and study. One year I took our hymn book and studied the scriptures that went with each hymn, it was a wonderful new way to study and added much to my life. Two of my favorite hymns are "How Great Thou Art" and "Come Thou Font of Every Blessing", as the words in these hymns expresses our gratitude to the LORD.

Your challenge is to make card that represents how worship through music touches your life. It could be something that represents a favorite hymn, a song of gratitude, your favorite type of music, anything along those lines, the field is wide open. Looking forward to your creations.

I took a CAS approach- stamped the image and embossed it, then colored it in with Zig markers. I added some clear Nuvo drops and a bow in twine.

I love music- and learning to play the piano is on my bucket list : )  I am currently beginning my 3rd year.  I am getting there- need to practice more! My Mom played the piano and also sang- she had a beautiful voice!  With her Dementia she has lost some of the piano skills (she can play the older music beautifully), and does not project enough when she sings.

You can see all of the cards HERE on Splitcoast.

The snow (MS) and snow glitter (Sparkle and Sprinkle) and a few sequins are added for the snow.

I hope you will join in the fun at the Tuesday Throwdown Blog!!!

Unity- Plaid

I had a few minutes to make a card using some new stamps : )  I joined in a challenge for 'plaid' on the Unity FB group.

I stamped this image on cardstock twice in black, and on plaid DP in white.  I fussy cut the plaid and the (2nd) white cardstock, then glued them in place.  Then I colored the image with Copics. The die is Gina Marie. The ribbon is from DLART and is Mocha- I won this in the Spring Coffee Blog Hop.  I love the sentiment- I think it is very encouraging!

End of the Road

It's the end of the Falliday road!  LOL  These are the last two challenges for me : )

For the first challenge at SCS, I used a technique called Splash Watercolor.  It is a bit different than the way I work with Distress Inks. I used a Unity image. The cardstock is white shimmery, Gold metallic and watercolor paper. Sequins are SU. Distress inks are Broken China and Peeled Paint.

For the Ways to use it challenge at SCS, we used fiber- it is good for you.  LOL

The image is from Createful Heart Digis and is the stamp of the month at The Outlawz progressive challenge. I colored it with Copics. The DP is unknown. I added tree dies using Glorious Green and Wasabi.  The fiber was in my stash.  For my outdoorsy son, this is spot on!  Love it and will sent it to him before I put it away and forget about it!

Counting down.......

I have 7 more cards to make after today and a little less than a week to go to finish Falliday challenges.  I was able to work in a couple of swaps that I had not completed yet.....

This is a new stamp at Michael Strong Stamps- isn;t it adorable?  I used the Way To Use it challenge at SCS and 'Cut Out' the bamboo. The Panda kanji is by Art Neko. This card is for a sketch challenge at the AOSA (About Oriental Art Stamps Yahoo group).

I have never seen the Nightmare Before Christmas, so took the inspiration from the picture supplied.  I have a SIL who is totally all in to Halloween and everything that goes with it, so it will be going postal tomorrow.
The bottom is a stamp by Rubber Cafe. The image on top of that is by Sweet Stamps and is actually a cork screw image : )  The pumpkins are Clear Dollar Stamps and the sentiment is Stampin Up.

Lastly, this is an ATC for a lottery at AOSA
This is for the felt challenge for Falliday. The theme of the ATC lottery this month is fans.  The background is called glue resist.  I stamped Elmers glue on the background with bubble wrap, once dry I used Distress Ink over it.  The fan is Stampin Up and was colored with Distress markers and embossed with clear EP.  The black insert with white image is Memory in the Making by Leisure Arts.

Wednesday stampin

Another successful stamping day.  I even did grocery shopping and fed the crew a yummy dinner : )  I will get to blogs as I can, I really am trying hard to complete the Falliday challenges- another week.....we'll see!

I worked on a couple of the Falliday Tutorials today and a couple of cards too.

The turkey tutorial is really so fun, I ended up making a couple of extras. I just love these : )

And, I also made the Witches hat

This is a fun easy and cute little hat.

This card is to showcase our favorite Holiday food.  I LOVE pumpkin pie.  This is a Clear Dollar Stamp image, sentiment is unknown, but I think it is Eureka Stamps.

And, I made a card for the wallflower challenge- stamp your image off the corner.  I used an old set called Cottage Rose- still mounted on wood too!  LOL  This set is Stampin Up and I used Pale Plum and Plum for the flowers.  Sentiment is Sweet and Sassy.

Stampin Away!

I have a goal to work on Falliday cards, hoping I can try to complete the challenges. So, today I was at it again : )

For the Coat of Many Colors challenge, I used ink through a stencil, then Light modeling paste through a different stencil. I added ink over the modeling paste. I used burlap with gesso painted on it. Added 'Joy' die cut out of foam and embossed over the ink because the ink would just wipe off. Added some ribbon to the bottom of the burlap. Stamped the flower image onto the background, then stamped it in black and fussy cut it out. I colored with Copics. The heart was fussy cut out. I added Sakura Stardust pen for sparkle over the heart and parts of the flower.
Flower and heart- Unity. The 'joy' die is Memory Box.

Fall drinks- think Apple Cider or ......my Mom lives with me and she drinks only coffee : )  I know a few other people who are the same way. So, I had to play with ink and stencils and coffee cups!  The coffee mug images are Michael Strong and the sentiment My Favorite Things.

For the All Caps challenge, I used a sentiment by My Favorite Things embossed in black. The cupcakes are Michael Strong, colored with Distress Ink markers. The DP is SU.

Oh Stamping Fun!

Yes, more Falliday, but I thought I had better find a new title......

This challenge called for Masking.  I stamped this fun image by Impression Obsession, masked it and colored around it with Distress Inks.  For the bottom portion, I applied the color, then laid a stencil on it that had been spritzed with water.  The image is colored with Copics. The sentiment is SU- I used just 1/2 of the sentiment.

So, this challenge was to use the movie, A Christmas Story as the theme.  Well, my son asks for bullets for his Christmas gift.....  he is a nature buff, so although I am not the biggrest fan of guns, guess if he encounters a bear or a mountain lion he is safer with one than without.
I thought the Unity image if glasses with the lens cracked would be a fun idea.  The gems are supposed to mimic bullets on a target.  I am not sure he will get it though......  we'll see.  The sentiment is by Lawn Fawn.

And, finally a card I made for the SCS Featured Stamper- Jeanette aka Forest Ranger who is a blogging friend!  Wahoo Jeanette!  Jeanette has also been a Unity girl, and inspired me to purchase a few Unity stamps : )  This is one of those stamp sets from Unity  CAS and powerful!

Falliday again : )

I am back at creating for Falliday again today (and yesterday). I had fun trying some new techniques too.

The dendritic technique is similar to a TJ technique, but I did it between pieces of a CD case. I added some Iridescent medium to the purple paint so it has shimmer to it too. Images by Paper Smooches.

This card used yarn wrapped around a block and dipped into white paint.  The challenge is names, "It's a Blizzard". Therefore, I wanted to make a snow scene.  I opened a SU die drawer for another die, and shamefully, found this set of dies I did not even remember I had....so, I opened it and put it to use.  The glitter is Sparkle and Sprinkle. The sentiment is also SU and is embossed in Silver EP.

This card is using a technique where you use water to make your stamping run.  I ended up re-coloring the image with markers and re-stamping, as the image had too much detail to leave as it was.  I added edging with a glitter pen. The sentiment is SU.

And, finally (for today)
I have never tried this technique before- you ink up your stamping block and use it to make an impression on your cardstock.  The challenge, Ceal, is the queen of CAS so I challenged myself to make a CAS card.  Images by Lawn Fawn.
